It's the most wonderful time of the year!

It really is the most wonderful time of the year, not only because of the fun parties and spirit of Christmas but because of what I get to read to my classes.  There are so many great Christmas children's books out there!  Here are some of my favorites...

6th Graders practicing read aloud skills

6th Graders practiced read aloud skills during Library class this week.  And there is no more festive way to practice this skill than with Christmas books! It was nice to have the "day off" from reading.

Our Thankful Tree

Well, I couldn't wait to set up my new tree in the library.  It seemed a little early to decorate for Christmas so i made a "Thankful Tree."  Students were invited to make an ornament stating what they were thankful  for.  After Thanksgiving, we will make it a book themed tree.  Students are invited to decorate an ornament based on a book title or character.  I can't wait to see how it turns out!!

Hall of Heroes for Veterans Day

Students have been learning about the importance of honoring Veterans and those who currently serve in the military through Operation Gratitude and also with the compilation of our Hall of Heroes. Students and faculty have been very proud to share photos of their friends and family members who have served in the military. We have a very impressive display in our cafeteria.
