What's Happening at the BSS Library?

In Library class, 6th graders listened to the story America's White Table. This story explains the Veterans Day tradition of setting a table to honor the men and women who served in America's Armed Forces who did not come home, including the MIAs and POWs. Each item at the place setting symbolizes something, including the salt representing the tears of families waiting for loved ones to return. They set their own White Table, and also had the opportunity to see some of the medals my father-in-law earned as an Army Sergeant in World War II.  

In honor of Veterans Day, we will be displaying a Hall of Heroes in the cafeteria of the people our students consider to be heroes. Students can bring in a photo of someone who served in the military, or anyone else whom they consider to be a hero. Along with the photo, please include their relationship to the student and why the the student considers them to be a hero. See your weekly e-n o tes or ask Mrs. Ferguson for more information. We have had some fantastic storybook pumpkins decorating the Library, thanks to our very creative students!  Well done everyone!
