Parent Shelf

Thanks to a grant received from the Catholic Health Foundation, our library was able to purchase close to 50 books geared toward dealing with grief and loss. This collection will be kept in my office and will be available to any of our family members. Some books are geared toward parents, some toward our students, and some are meant to be shared together. Some topics covered in these books include death of a loved one or pet, general questions children may have about death and the afterlife, divorce, children separated from a parent due to a military assignment or incarceration, and understanding medical conditions of a loved one due to such illnesses as cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease.

There will be a specially designated shelf in Mrs. Ferguson’s office, which will be the start of our new Parent Shelf. Any of these titles may be borrowed by our families by contacting Mr. Spillman, Mrs. Lannigan, Mrs. Ferguson, or another staff member. We also hope to add to this collection beyond the subject of grief and loss to assure that other areas of need our families might be experiencing will be covered.
